About Me

Thank you for visiting my site!

Writing has been a passion of mine since childhood. But the story of my business begins in 2005 when, mid-way through my doctoral training, I hit a wall. Though some graduate students long for a break from writing, I felt the opposite. I wanted to do more kinds of writing, and on different topics than I engaged with in my day to day training activities. Oh, and did I mention I also wanted to get paid for it? After responding to an ad for a part-time writing job more than 150 miles away, a researcher at a VA-affiliated health services research center in Houston gave me my first writing contract, and the rest is history.

As for the other part of my career, I received my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Texas at Austin in 2009 and became a licensed psychologist shortly thereafter. I completed additional training at Baylor College of Medicine prior to joining the faculty at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2010. I returned to Baylor College of Medicine in 2016 as a full-time faculty member in the Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

My career in academic medical settings has informed my freelance work, and vice versa. Both have become essential to my professional identity. I hope to have an opportunity to work with you.
